Covid Requirements to Enter and Exit The Bahamas

International Travel Protocols

  1. All Visitors travelling to The Bahamas are required to create a Bahamas Travel Health Visa (BTHV) account/profile, submit a BTHV international trip application, be accepted, then purchase the BTHV in order to receive the approved BTHV w/QR Code for their trip to The Bahamas. This document is to be presented to airline agents/pilots and boat captains/operators before boarding takes place along with COVID-19 vaccination certificate/card and COVID-19 test result.
  2. Unvaccinated Travellers are required to take a RT-PCR COVID-19 test that has been administered by an accredited lab, taken no more than three (3) days prior to travel date. Visitors must apply for an International BTHV Trip Application.
  3. Fully Vaccinated Travellers will be required to have a COVID-19 Vaccination Certificate/Card along with a negative Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) or RT-PCR Test that has been administered by an accredited lab, taken no more than three (3) days prior to travel date. Visitors must apply for an International BTHV Trip Application.

a. Must have received the required doses of the COVID-19 Vaccine administered to them. Travellers must also be past the 2-week immunity period to apply using a COVID-19 vaccination card.

  1. Children Between The Ages Of 2 – 11 Years old who will be entering The Bahamas, will be required to take a negative COVID-19 test result (RAT or RT- PCR) taken no more than three (3) days prior to travel date. Visitors must apply for an International BTHV Trip Application.
  2. Children Younger Than 2 Years Old are exempt from the COVID-19 test/Vaccination Card. Visitors must apply for an International BTHV Trip Application.

3. Pilots And Crew Of A Commercial Airline who are not staying more than one night in The Bahamas are exempt from the COVID-19 test/Vaccination Card. And apply for an International BTHV Trip Application.

  1. A traveller entering The Bahamas by sea must stop at a port of entry and present to the local authority a copy of their BTHV, negative COVID-19 test result and proof of being full vaccinated.
  2. Any traveller entering The Bahamas by sea whether on a commercial or personal vessel for a period of longer than three (3) days must prove at their point of entry into The Bahamas that their COVID 19 test result was valid at the time of their departure and that the trip was direct with no prior stops.
  3. The results of a COVID-19 test is valid for a period of three (3) days from the date the test was taken.
  4. The requirement for Bahamian citizens and residents to obtain a BTHV has been discontinued. Instead, Bahamian citizens and residents are required to present proof of vaccination and a negative RAT or RT-PCR test at check-in prior to departure to The Bahamas.
  5. A BTHV is not required to travel from The Bahamas to a foreign country.

SYMPTOMATIC TESTING

  1. Persons who have entered or travel within The Bahamas that exhibit symptoms of COVID-19 of their travel will be required to undergo a COVID-19 RAT.
  2. If a person displaying symptoms tests positive with a RAT, that person will be required to take a RT-PCR test.
  3. A person who refuses to take a RAT when displaying symptoms of COVID-19 or refuses to be tested further with a RT-PCR test, commits an offence and is liable to a fine and/or imprisonment.

QUARANTINE

1. If a traveller is required to submit to mandatory quarantine, they must follow the protocols issued to them by the Ministry of Health. The traveller will either be instructed to quarantine in place or, if appropriate, at a facility determined by the Ministry of Health for a period of 10 days or until the traveller tests negative with a RT-PCR test. A traveller under mandatory quarantine may be subject to additional protocols established by the Ministry of Health. Note: a hotel room is an appropriate facility for quarantine.

Inter-Island (Domestic) Travel Protocols

  1. A Bahamas Travel Health Visa (BTHV) is no longer required to travel within The Bahamas (DOMESTIC TRAVEL).
  2. Unvaccinated Travelers departing from New Providence (Nassau), Paradise Island or Grand Bahama Island (Freeport) to any other island; are required to present at check-in a Negative RT-PCR Test result taken no more than three (3) days prior to travel date.
  3. Fully Vaccinated Travelers departing from New Providence (Nassau), Paradise Island or Grand Bahama Island (Freeport) to any other island; will be required to present at check-in their Vaccination Card and either a negative RAT or RT-PCR Test result taken no more than three (3) days prior to travel date.
  4. Children Between The Ages Of 2 – 11 Years Old departing from New Providence (Nassau), Paradise Island or Grand Bahama Island (Freeport) to any other island; will be required to present at check-in a negative COVID-19 test result (RAT or PCR) taken no more than three (3) days prior to travel date.
  5. Children younger than 2 years old are exempt from the COVID-19 test requirements.
